Getting ready for your birth at home

When you are planning to birth at home, I bring a pool to you at 37 weeks. The pool is yours to keep until after the birth.

I bring all medical supplies required, when you are in labour.

I ask you to have the following items ready by the time you are in labour:

  • 12-15 OLD TOWELS
  • 3-5 FACECLOTH FLANNELS
  • PLASTIC SHEET AND AN OLD SHEET TO PROTECT THE COUCH OR BED AFTER THE BIRTH
  • VOMIT BUCKET
  • SIEVE AND BUCKET (TO SCOOP POOP OUT OF THE POOL)
  • SMALL BUCKET FOR PLACENTA (EX. 1 litre ICE CREAM TUB, YOGURT CONTAINER, OR TUPPERWARE)
  • DRINK BOTTLE WITH STRAW, ELECTROLYTES / COCONUT WATER
  • MATERNITY PADS
  • BIG KNICKERS
  • NEWBORN NAPPIES, CLOTHES AND BLANKET
  • COMFY, LOOSE CLOTHES FOR AFTER THE BIRTH
  • BLUE FOOD GRADE HOSE TO FILL AND EMPTY THE POOL
  • HOT WATER BOTTLE / WHEAT PACK
  • SIMPLE ANALGESIAFOR AFTERBIRTH PAINS – PANADOL / IBUPROFEN / ARNICA
  • POPSICLE PADS – PADS SOAKED IN WATER AND PUT IN FREEZER FLAT – TO PUT ON PERINEUM AFTER BIRTH
  • MUSIC
  • AROMATHERAPY / HOMEOPATHICS
  • MASSAGE OIL
  • CAMERA / VIDEO CAMERA
  • ICE TO SUCK
